  • Still needs some polishing

    By Hugh Gaskins
Love ProtonMail - been using it for years. The app gets the job done, though it would be nice to have swipe to mark as read and also an unread filter so I don’t have to go hunting for that last unread email (if it exists it’s not clear in the UI at the moment) Speed and stability wise the app is great, can’t complain with customer service either - they are responsive and helpful. If you want a decent encrypted email solution I would definitely get started here.
  • Lacks one key feature

    By hko2019
This app needs a key feature to make it acceptable as an app - conversation mode. Without it, using this app is painful and cluttered. Every single message has a row of its own. ProtonMail websites - including the mobile view - have this feature, so why can’t the native app? For many reasons, using the mobile website is not an acceptable workaround. Conversation mode is not merely a personal preference, it’s standard and essential in an email viewer and I can’t think of any other modern email tool that lacks it. The absence of conversation mode ruins this otherwise good app and great service.
  • Can be clunky

Seems to timeout a lot and had a larger than expected delay between hitting send and the email sending. No doubt this is a byproduct of the encryption, however this has resulted in mails being sent greatly delayed as I’ve closed the app before it completed sending. Having said that ProtonMail raises the bar when it comes to accessible mail security.
