  • Great App: Interesting Issue

    By Elrick Decimetrix
I use this app for .ogg and .mp4 files all the time and its pretty good a part from a few quirks here and there. There is an interesting issue I found with Bluetooth headphones, WI-C300 Sony wireless headphones, and judging by a forum post about strange audio issues with VLC and wireless headphones on iPad not the first to discover it. The solution on the forum is kind off a solution setting the playback speed to 0.75x, this is kinda a solution but just ends up with metal bands sounding like they are three years into emphysema. It’s a good app and you can use other Bluetooth devices just interestingly this hasn’t been resolved or noted yet (as the forum post was in January of this year). The forums post’s name is “audio issues on iPad using bluetooth earbuds, VLC 3.1.5” this issue has not been resolved I don’t mind too much as its no great loss would be cool to put some attention to it through this medium
  • Great UI, annoying bugs

    By LightninBolt74
Hi, this is a great app with all the basic and advanced functions that most iOS players don’t have, I almost always open all my videos using this app. One major problem I noticed since last year is that every time I pause or tap “done” to leave the video, the audio from the last few frames of the video repeat non-stop, and it is really irritating; when I need to pause the video for something it just repeats the audio in the last second or so and I can’t stop it without going through a lot of issues. I can’t even lower the volume. Please try to fix this issue, as it is the only thing making my review a 4 star and not 5. Also could you make it a little more difficult to exit a video; I always find myself accidentally exiting the video because of some mis-tap or swipe.
  • A great concept plagued by bugs

I love VLC on the desktop, I absolutely recommend it to everyone for a simple and effective media player. When I first saw that VLC was on iOS and provided a way to have videos on the platform without the need for iTunes - I was chuffed! Unfortunately there are many noticeable and experience hurting bugs. As noted in many comments already, pausing the video and locking your device often results in the playing screen locking up when you return to it. I also have a problem which I haven’t seen in the reviews so far. My folders disappear. I don’t mean the text is blank or the image representing the folder isn’t showing up. The folders are just entirely not showing up... yet when you click edit, select a video and then press move... you see the folders again. Exit the edit mode, they’re gone. They’re there, but you can’t access them. You can’t move anything inside or out of them. I’ve tried the usual troubleshooting steps and in the end deleted the app, reinstalled and was happy with the app acting normal again. But that didn’t last as today I have again lost (but not lost) my folders. Really weird! If this was fixed, my rating would be much higher but as it stands the experience is not amazing.
