Reviews

  • Hard to understand complaints

Reading through the reviews of this app it is refreshing to see negative as well as positive comments. As a macOS user for over 20 years I have registered my share of complaints about MS products and policies but some of the complaints listed in these reviews are simply untrue or the result of user error. Personally after resigning to the fact that Word is and probably will remain the benchmark and industry standard for word processors I find this app to be the perfect portable companion to MS Word for macOS. There simply is no better alternative. Adding to this previous version review I would like to say that having cut my teeth on the iPhone using this app on an iPad is a dream in comparison. I don't use office 365, I store and share my documents via One Drive which is now available to the Files App in iOS 11 making moving documents from iCloud to One Drive and vice versa a breeze. If any of the naysayers can find a better alternative to this app I'd like to hear it.

Okay, okay. I’ve used this app many times, but they were on the computer. Let’s see... I got an iPad and that’s where all the problems started. I don’t know why, but when I’m on a shared document and someone else is using it at the same time, it creates conflicts. Then the other person has to delete another persons work so they can continue with their own. Another problem is: when I’m using text boxes to label a picture, I exit out, maybe come back to it in a day or two, and the image has completely covered the writing. And then I can’t move the picture for some reason, so I have to delete the image and the writing, and do it all over again. This is really annoying, especially when I’ve written a big block of text. Sometimes when I’m using this app, I type stuff, it deletes it, I type it again, but the original word that I wrote is still there. I can tell in the auto correct. Sometimes it ‘corrects’ the word even though I’ve typed it right. This happens normally when I type ‘money.’ There are a lot of problems with this app on iPads, so please fix it as soon as you can. Thank you.
  • Needs a freshen up

Word has been great in general, but I switched to pages for an assignment and I just fell in love with the sleek design. It also has more templates. Word really just needs to update its interface to make it a bit sleeker. Also more keyboard hotkeys would be great. Another problem which brought it down to 3 stars, is its lack of support for the hold space bar and drag feature Apple has. It is had to explain what happens but I will do my best. Two colons appear, one grey and one blue. The blue one is where you’d expect it to be, but for some reason there is another one, way to the side, and you have to drag the grey one to where you want it, making the blue colon useless. I know that was probs confusing, but just try it yourself and you will get what I mean. Please fix!!! Also, please add more drawing features that are on OneNote or make it easier to insert PDFs in general into word, but especially from OneNote.
