  • A little disappointing

I have hired quite a few people from Airtasker because I like to give people who are out there trying to make a living a chance. Unfortunately and this is not Airtasker’s fault but the fault of the people accepting the jobs. If you aren’t qualified or cannot fix a problem you shouldn’t expect to get paid for trying and leaving people still with the original problem and/or making it worse. I paid $100 to have a cupboard door put back on that fell off again a week later, I paid $100 to have my broken toilet not get fixed and my drains still to be blocked, it cost me $50 for someone to realise they didn’t know how to unblock my washing machine and just recently a girl expected to get paid $100 for cleaning my apartment but hadn’t done vacuumed, mopped or cleaned the bedrooms, the living room or the dining space. It cost me $50 to get her to leave. I’m saying that I have met a couple of really good cleaners and had some great help but the i think sometimes it works out cheaper and more convenient just to pay for a professional. That’s what they are there for. I did not think people would take jobs that they couldn’t do so always ask what the persons experience is and if they are qualified to do whatever it is you need doing before you agree to pay them
  • Airtasker “Support Cops” are the worst!

    By You're not my Boss!
Used the app for a week observing and participating on bids. Has been reprimanded a couple of times for bidding lower than what was original job costs submitted by “Poster” When all this time of observing and participating on bids I have observed a lot jobs being won by “Taskers” who bidded lower than original amount. And was offering a free quotation on site. Having explained my side to the Support Cops they’re response was “Sign off and email that you understand our terms and conditions before we reinstate your profile” Excuse me??? Funny thing I noticed not only they take 15% or more of the task price you offer, if the customer after being happy with the job you completed decided to pay you more, these greedy people will take another 10% off of that too! If you are that consistent in taking money be consistent in applying your terms and conditions across the board! I am a week old registered business in your platform and you threaten me to not reinstate my account yet you allow people who should know better being on your platform for ages and are getting away with the same thing you try to enforce on me? Not a “rewarding experience” at all!

The degree of professionalism I agree is not best. Don’t get a tradie on there even if they are licenced and long experienced - drilled a hole through any wall without looking on the other side and smashed a marble tile for example. A cleaner came to a house we were moving from on settlement day - they cleaned the top bathroom with so much water it leaked everywhere and cause major issues for settlement. A removalist came saying they had a van to move an expensive leather lounge - they rocked up with a small open tray Ute and I had to have a fight with them to get them off the property and cancel the task. 15% is too high leading to overpricing. Be more fair please Airtasker - you are not providing that much of a service to warrant that fee. Anyway... to functionality... getting bidders to offer is based on luck and when you tile your post. There should be a bump feature to bring it back to the top of the list. After the first 5 minutes it fizzles out. Then I have to post everything from scratch again an hour later and completely different people offer but it’s a real hassle. Anyway I’m starting to feel like airtasker is more and more not the way to go... you need to fix it guys. The idea is good, you have the people on the platform but it won’t last longer unless you fix these issues entrenched within your systems.
