  • 1st time in Hanoi a gem in the chaos

When we 1st arrived and after 18 hours of planes and stop over, we were a little concerned, the tiny brightly painted laneway / entrance alley took us a bit by surprise. Especially when we had to wait for a motorbike to get through we honestly thought this isn’t good. BUT... as the saying goes don’t judge a book by its cover, the moment we stepped into the reception area everything was great. The welcoming smiles and the fruit platter and fresh juice and understanding staff really eased our concerns, the room was very clean and well kept a good size and nice bathroom, the locations great, plenty of viet/western restaurants within mere seconds of the hotel and the lake is just 1 small street over,(great place for a respite from the onslaught of motorbikes and noise). Breakfast Choice was good and always cooked fresh. Everything is close by, food entertainment, shopping / night market. But the staff are amazing easily the most helpful and knowledgeable we came across, Kim, Ming, Justin just to name a few were so helpful and really made our stay a pleasure. I could go on and on but we highly recommend this little diamond.
  • Stay here if you are coming to Tsefat

This is the place to stay if you are visiting Tsefat. From the moment I arrived Susan made sure that I always had everything I needed. The Inn is in an old stone building brimming with history that has been lovingly renovated. My room was very large and comfortable and I had a window seat that looked out onto a beautiful courtyard and another courtyard which had an amazing view over the hills and out to the coast. Susan gave guests a free reign of the dining area which she laid out with food and drinks at all times. There was an Nespresso machine and an assortment of teas. She cooked breakfast for all the guests that smelt really good - and she catered for my vegan diet with the most delicious food. I stayed over Shabbat and Susan opened her home to me and invited me and a table full of other guests to join her family for dinner which was so special. She helped me find synagogue services and she even organised for me to have lunch the next day with another family which was also an amazing experience. Don't spend your time looking elsewhere - if you want a memorable and wonderful stay book the Artists' Colony Inn.
  • Cheap, friendly, not much else

The Red Roof Hotel, nearby Dallas Fort Worth airport (in fact under the flight path) is really a motel, at best 1980s in style. The counter staff are friendly, and if you ask them something they will tell you. But almost zero information is volunteered. They have an assured clientele of flight staff, and are obviously not too bothered for other business. The room, though clean, has very little to commend it. The shower pressure is weak. There are no toiletries other than a soap bar and a single sachet of shampoo. My room had an ‘air conditioner’ which seemed to have no effect on the room, while the heater control had no control button: ‘It must have been stolen by some kid’, said the man asked to come and open the safe for me. (You can’t use the safe unless you ask for this service!) The ‘airconditioner’ made more noise than an airplane. Sleep was impossible with it on. Coffee is available at reception, otherwise there is no food at all. They rely on a ‘Denny’s’ next door, which offers every kind of fatty food you can imagine. This hotel is cheap by local standards. In every sense of the word.
