  • Some problems

I only use this app to play videos as copying the videos onto the USB is much quicker than copying to to iTunes then syncing my phone with iTunes (and it plays a greater variety of video files). Unfortunately a number of video formats require a second app called Top Reel. So when you insert the lightning connector drive is asks you to open iXpand and then when you go to play certain file types it switches you across to Top Reel. Annoyingly there are some problems when the phones locks in TopReel (eg when you have to pause a video and the screen locks. When you open the device iXpand requests permission to access the drive again. If you allow it then thinks no drive is connected or it says the drive is busy. Often when I ignore it (ie don’t grant permission to access the drive again) I can continue playing the video anyway. Either way it regularly causes errors and I have to close the apps and start again, hoping that fixes the issue. Follow up: About 5 minutes after writing the review above I went back to watching a video from the drive on TopReel. Mid video with no interaction from me a notice pops up from iXpand asking to communicate with the drive. I tapped “allow” it switched across from TopReel to the iXpand app to tell me the drive is busy. When I went back to TopReel it wouldn’t continue playing the video. Painful
  • Great Tool, but One Major Flaw

This USB is great at transferring files from your PC (word docs, movies and photos) and makes it easy to open them up on my iDevices. HOWEVER! I have yet to find a way to transfer files the other way (photos are fine) I cannot save a word doc from the app to my USB, to the app or even copy it over from Files. To work around this, I have to save it to iCloud or OneDrive and reopen it on my PC. This kind of ruins the purpose and makes it a more efficient way to view files, not edit and transfer files. If there is a way to do this, please send me a link to the instructions! If not, add this feature please!

It easily stores photos and video that I don't readily need on my iPod all the time. The transition when you swipe between photos isn't as smooth as the iPods native system, and you can't smoothly scroll a video backward and forward, so when I'm studying video of a customer's feet, while making their shoes, I need to drop it back over to the iPod to do this. Apart from these two minor gripes, it greatly extends the usefulness of my 32Gb iPod. Oh, and I would like to be able to save other types of files, as well, straight from the iPod (unless I'm missing something and you can?)
